Boomers: “You kids don’t work these days!”

“Hey let’s make this awesome RWD platform and put an awesome engine in it and awesome suspension bits and then let’s make it ugly and impossible to see out of it and when it doesn’t sell we can just make it ugly in a slightly different way but it’ll still be impossible to see out of and nobody will want one” is an

Black people wear flip flops in the U.S. when it’s hot, though. This is the first I’m hearing that any American negro thinks of flip flops as “white people” stuff.

Yes. He claims he doesn’t want Blackness to be a burden for his kids, but it sounds like he views it as a burden in general. Blackness, for him, sounds so limiting and narrow.

It’s so much bullshit. I grew up in a majority Black neighborhood, and my best friend’s family went apple picking. I’ve never even heard that we aren’t supposed to wear flip flops. My on-the-edge-of-Hotep boyfriend loves Natalie Merchant and is a fiend for punk music. I am a crazy dog lover who refers to her dog as

Mr. Richardson writes: Can I relax and enjoy heretofore ‘white people shit’ like... wearing flip-flops as just a thing without quietly laughing at myself or subtly dying inside?” Flip-flops are a white person’s thing? Tell that to the millions of poor people, of all hues, around the world, who wear flip-flops.

There was another think piece on The Root by a black writer who “wasn’t born black” (paraphrase) because she ate kale and liked to go hiking or skiing or something. It felt like weird humble-bragging and I wasn’t here for it..

Exactly. I am very much tired of this. Has a black person done it? Then it’s something that black people do, fin. I understand there are nuances but I find some really ridiculous biases start oozing out when you push back with Socratic reasoning. That’s when the “I am a speshul black person” and the faux incredulous

I do not like labeling things as not for Black people. I am Black but not African American and am always amazed by the way some black people here will label something White that had nothing to do with unseasoned chicken

Replace them the next time the customer comes to the store, like a responsible manager would.

I have no idea if that’s true, but it’s a good story.

I really like the exterior styling.

I always wonder if it’s a guy thing. We have a BRZ and a WRX, and my husband gets “challenged” by all sorts of idiots in both (he never bothers and just rolls his eyes). I’ve never had anyone do that when driving one of them.

man that stuff drives me up the wall. they’ll do a whole piece telling you how cool this street racing car meet is, and then either at the very end or the very start is a limp-wristed comdenation of the criminal activity that comes with it

As a Black man who was raised by a single mother, I understand where he’s coming from. My mom did the best she could with what she had, but she couldn’t be a father to me too.

This seems like a pretty reasonable take.

You... monster.

You know, there is only so many intersections a person can navigate at once.

It didn’t work with Gayle. But how many people watching do you think were maybe swayed by his display of grief?

And, most importantly, how many women and girls victimized by him are watching us watching him and wondering why so many of us think this is so fucking funny?
