I don’t know what you were expecting. It’s Doom. Just like Halo, CoD, and Battlefield, it has a niche market and will not stray away from that market. Considering its nature and content, the game is destined to be hellacious, brutal, and over-the-top. How many popular shooters have there been where the main villains…

I want to put a feeler out. Does anyone else find it extremely frustrating to control the character? Combat feels fine, but basic navigation and exploration feels terrible to me.

LOL, this does nothing. What the “naysayers” like myself want is to revert to the 2013 rendering engine. There’s nothing aside from a complete recompile of the game’s binary with the previous engine that will get it looking as good as it did two years ago. Everything they’re doing now is just smoke & mirrors.
