i dont think terfs actually think gender is biological , that why they don’t believe trans women when they say they were “born” women , or when they say they’ve always been women. terfs believe gender is purely a social construct which is why the push back on the idea of “feeling” like a woman

ehhh i dont think trans rights were being negated anywhere here. i also dont think JK was saying trans people dont deserve rights . its this type of hyperbole and strawman, that is fighting against us . why do you use strawmen to make your point ?

if we’re talking about people who menstruate ,transwomen being women isnt even on the table . more accurately her comments would be(if you stretch enough) targeted against transmen not transwomen .

considering the fact that this place is an echo chamber of ideas , are you really surprised people agree with you

these conversations need to be transparent and with little to no hyperbole . if you say abolish law enforcement followed by “we don’t want no police” i think the message sounds like you’re literally saying you want no law enforcement . also firing all current officers isn’t even remotely practical , considering you’d

yea but defunding the police is a policy or a mandate cops need to abide by . if the rules dont change then what positive outcomes can we expect? the police have been just as corrupt even when their funding has been less than it is today

ok but why not both ? Defunding the police isnt policy . great so youve defunded the police now what? the police have been just as corrupt even when their budget was less than what it is now

i dont think youve thought this through enough . lets paint the scenario. step 1: destroy the Nypd.

there is an equivalent though , unless you’re saying that there aren’t black women who wear wigs that also support BLM . the implication is that you cant support BLM unless you’ve rid yourself of colonial influence, which is a high bar considering we’ve all been brainwashed . but if youre without sin have at it , cast

your argument implies colorism wouldnt exist without white people when this is factually incorrect

how do you “change how men fetishize light skin”?

the decisions you make on what to do with your hair dont occur in a vacuum . you might not consciously want to be white but you do want to conform to western beauty standards . just like someone who wears or even promotes lightening creams isnt necessarily doing so because the “want to be white”

i haven’t claim that this article is about wigs vs lightening cream. I’m saying it equally wrong to “criticize” anyone promoting or using both. i know you want to call it a “criticism” but a criticism can still be malicious and even an attack . we don’t criticize (some racists do ) black women for wearing wigs

Priyanka shouldn’t be attacked though . We should be viewing her choices through the lense and understanding that she is just as influenced by the oppressor than anyone else . Which is why I used the comparison to wearing straight hair wigs . Why is one punished while the other is understood with much more nuance .

I understand the point of the article ,I'm just asking for everyone to be consistent . If we aren't consistent these points just seem arbitrary . Can you explain the difference between lightening cream ( a product used as a result of trying to hold to white beauty standards) and straight hair wigs( a product used as a

I don't think you seeing the nuance of chopras position. But that's fine go off . The target has been set , Chopra is the POC we're coming for now . If you want to support BLM you better have a clean record ....

I don’t think you can just straight up deny the white influence on the choice to use a wig over your natural hair . I don’t think a wig wth straight hair would be a choice if it weren’t for European standards of beauty

It was actually pretty standard for most of the world ..most cultures believed dark skin meant uneducated worked in the field .

So more easily manageable hair looks better and is easily managed . It's a personal preference thing.. why can't we extend this to whitening cream ? Some people like lighter skin the same way you think straighter hair looks better

The problem I see is why are we treating lightening cream the same as wearing a wig ? Why is one ok to criticize but the other I treated with nuance and understanding ? Why is one defendable on the basis of it being a result of white supremacy and an attempt to adhere to a certain European standard
