No doubt, projecting authority works in many cases with drunks. Our female bartenders take no shit from anyone and the guys know it. They have far fewer problems than male bartenders. For some reason, some people just like to escalate things when a man is involved. No one want to fight a woman because a) if you lose

I think that’s kind of the deal between companies. If we find a vulnerability in your product we tell you and give you 6 months to fix it. Then we release the details. That way the bad guys don’t know they’ve been discovered until it too late.

While I agree, why not identify the sites? Now that the fix has been made available why not let people know in case the same sites find a way around the fix?

I zeroed in on this part of the article

I’m somewhat familiar with this case. I think they are going to have a hill to climb proving that apps cost too much. Something like 92% of the apps are free and many are only $1.00.

That was kind of my point. Apple is not alone in what they are doing. And for Woz to bring up HP as some shining example only shows how long ago he worked for HP and how he doesn’t realize that it’s just like Apple these days. I know, I worked for HP back in the 80s and again a couple of years ago. They are 2

And yet there is a thriving, non-Apple, competitive product out there called Android.

Actually some of them are dying. According to this article, the death rate is 6x the bike death rate.

rampant drug use

Don’t Shoot (shots of liquor not guns) and Scoot!

While I understand and agree (mostly) with what you’re saying, I do think that some tech companies push the envelope on selling against someone versus being anti-competitive. Pricing is one area where larger companies can afford to “buy” the business effectively running the smaller guys out. They also like to buy up

Doesn’t every company act in an anti-competitive manner to some extent? Don’t they all market their products as the best, the most reliable, the most affordable, etc? I know in the tech industries we have all put out competitive analysis of products from other companies and these are used to convince a customer to buy

the way Hewlett Packard did when I worked there

A friend has a pipe that can use oil/wax or flower. It sounds similar in that it super heats the contents and there is very little if any residue left over. Getting flower isn’t an issue as it’s legal here and you can grow your own if you have a medical card.

Hacking implies they directly changed the votes in the machines. They didn’t.

Interesting. I vape and occasionally smoke leaf. Smoking leaf is more harsh for me or at least it seems that way.

I assume it does but a quick check of the Joy-Cons on my Switch shows they have no charging port. They have to be attached to the Switch to charge or you need an accessory device to charge them.

I think that is for the non-pot vaping. For states that have legalized pot the vape oil cartridges are “regulated” in some ways. It’s probably different for every state and I know in WA State it’s unclear (to me) as to how they regulate the contents. I do know there are limits on the amount of pesticide allowed and a

The article is lacking in the details but if this was over-the-counter oil cartridges from legal sources then they are regulated. At least in states where pot is legal. Legal pot is highly regulated, whether the regulations are enforced or are even sufficient is a different question.

Bernie’s “wisdom”? LOL that’s funny as hell. Bernie’s wisdom is to be a capitalist while pushing democratic socialism on the masses. Yeah, we would be so far along because the party that torpedoed Bernie (hint, it was the Democrats) would be fully supportive of him being in the White House.
