I think A6 has a better CPU core (higher clock + die shrink + new architecture) but falls short on the GPU department (3 cores for A6 vs 4 cores for the A5X). Do you think we will see an even higher clock speed (been hearing up to 1.3GHz for the A6) on the next iPad?

Wouldn't it be an A6X? The A6 would be a step down in graphics department with only 3 cores instead of 4 cores on the A5X. Maybe they will just replace the ARM A9 core with the new one and shrink the whole die.

Apple TV seems to be in your price range and you can hook it whatever stereo you have. It even has a digital output. I would rather do that than pay more for a Airplay stereo (since I paid a fortune for my audio hardware and installation around my house). So get some good old speakers and connect them to an Apple TV.
