What your describing is much more of... a VR application... For the distant plumber. Create a full 3d camera or a drone with a laser pointer and you’ll achieve more or less the same at a lower price.

To be useful those things should be able to replace phone screens: they should be highly mobile, or in short they’d need to fit in the “Google Glass” form factor. Nobody’s going to run around with those things on their heads.
