There was a factoid that used to spread around starting in the early 2000s that said new cars at the time on a bad smog day in L.A. could actually emit cleaner air than what was originally entering the engine.
I, too, can’t wait for our inevitable future consisting of Car DLC, DCMA takedowns of vehicle tunes, and anyone with the right script being able to diable or hijack our vehicles remotely.
To be fair to Mr. Trump, he promised to protect LGBTQ citizens from the violence and oppression of a hateful foreign ideology...
Probably less trees, but accurate.
how exactly do you think this is garbage? its one of the better written articles hes done in a while. the facts check out. sounds to me like it set off your trigger
Tesla’s official line is “Up to 170 miles in as little as 30 minutes” which sounds very marketing speak. So, at highway speeds, and using accessories, I’d take that to mean you’d need a stop for charge every 2-3 hours, for at least a half hour duration. Couple that with limited, and admittedly growing,…
I just wish there was some plan for a way forward past batteries, and/or to reform electrical generation. Both are currently unsuited to support a sustainable replacement for petroleum transportation. No need to rush this, we’ll run out of oil and price ourselves away from petrol soon enough; no need to rush towards…
Neutral: None of these movements toward banning the sale of electric cars are going to succeed while people still make long trips in cars. I mean, the tech may evolve to the point where it doesn’t take HOURS to charge up to full in an electric vehicle, but until the day arrives when you can top off an electric car…
The indoor cart tracks I’ve been to were fun, but they were also gas powered.
why would they be?
My only concern is that old cars, which should be driven, would be put off the road. And that’s a crime.
it is depressing.
Neutral:
My entire world is collapsing.
For the record I’m not against change. I’m not some Luddite. But I feel... Sad. Gas powered engines have left an integral mark on culture, in all parts of the world. American pop culture is built on big engines and chrome cars. Entire industries have popped up around gasoline…
And how long will that last? Part of the allure of electric vehicles is autonomous driving. And as we know the biggest problem with that is their ability to predict and react to human driving. Take away the human element and the safety increases. Fossil fueled vehicles will become the next “think of the children”…
POTENTIAL to be waaaay better. I argued with a friend who thought we would all be driving sporty electrics like Teslas in 20 years. Wouod be nice, but the real car of the future is a Leaf or a Volt.
As an enthusiast, I just feel for Britian’s small car/aftermarket industry. I’m thinking caterham, morgan, LB, Ultima and others. britian makes a lot of kit/niche cars.
Who banned cars without airbags and seatbelts? I’ll have to tell my Willys it’s been banned and will have to go away now.
I don’t really see the more fun potential of going all electric.
Neutral: Ban Cars?
