Haha to be honest, my SNES has the sticker out of sheer luck. Picked it up about 3 months ago in perfect shape, and I probably wouldn't have noticed it had been missing the sticker. I'll agree with you on the aged glue though, another reason to not remove it from my current SNES.

I still have the "Power switch must be off before loading or removing a game pak" sticker on my SNES. I'd say it's to keep the console looking as original as possible. For these newer systems I'd probably remove it too, but in 20 years someone might really enjoy finding one with the sticker intact.
