I fell in love with this movie when it came out, and still love it. I was already into wuxia films at that point and certainly a lot of those bring more of the "oomph" to the action, but CTHD successfully wed dazzling choreography to an arthouse aesthetic in a way that really brought out the best of both of them. I

Given Captain America's allegiances in the current comics, that would still qualify as staying in character.

You know, I always thought this guy was really Johnny Storm, but turns out he was actually Steve Rogers. Very happy to have been so wrong.

You seem to have admirably high standards of caring. Now I wonder what your opinion is of Boba Fett, Darth Maul, and other "guys who are super cool despite doing nothing of consequence."

Gad might be a decent Penguin in the right media - I could actually see it working for Lego Batman, or something similarly flippant. But it would be a strange-ass choice indeed for Zach Snyder's "Neck Snappin' Justice League." Gad can't help but be goofy and kind of grating in a way that I just can't imagine fitting

Isn't "being a bad guy with distinctive tics" the very definition of a Batman villain? I guess it's sort of true of all comic book characters on some level but Batman's rogue's gallery has always seemed to be the Platonic ideal of the trope.

I have liked him in stuff, but think he's one of those actors who needs a firm director and is best in small doses. He was very effective as Olaf in Frozen, and he had some nice moments in Beauty & the Beast. I even liked him part of the time in that terrible "comedy" about the Oval Office that was on NBC for like

I think the Elektra/Hand stuff had its moments for sure. For me, the frustration with the Hand comes from them always feeling kind of ad hoc and not really integrated into what's going on, even though it fees after IF like the whole Marvel Netflix Universe kind of revolves around them.

I'm not really a Punisher fan either but I still enjoyed how he was used in DD, as well as the actor's performance. They did much better by the character than any other interpretation, and probably better than he deserved.

Interesting take. I enjoyed the supporting performances in IF, especially Harold Meachum (which I thought was just bananas enough to be really fun), but didn't think the actual acting was all that great. I think they came off better just because the show's take on Danny Rand was so confused.

Ali was truly great and as virtually everyone who has seen the show has attested, it really suffered after his exit. I still can't get on board with ranking LC before either of the DD seasons, though. I'd probably put DDS1 first, with JJ 2nd, then DDS2, LC and of course IF last. That pains me as I quite like the

I really find it hard to believe that anyone who would really care about the making of Star Wars doesn't already know about Ben Burtt or how important the sound design was/is to the whole thing. I mean, Darth Vader's mechanical breathing is a signature of the entire franchise - you can make that sound in any part of

I must admit I really do miss physical media, especially when it comes to games. Now, when I do get a physical game, I often think about how spare and lifeless it all is. As I kid I lovingly maintained all my NES and SNES games in their original boxes, with all the inserts, etc. (They live on in a box in my

True enough, except that he's also never been anything less than half an asshole. I wouldn't be surprised if this whole silly "separate identity" thing is because no one would knowingly work with Mike Myers.

Yes! It's so frustrating. I like Marvel and DC both but markedly prefer the former, so it's been profoundly disappointing for me that all I can find for my girls are Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, etc. Luckily my oldest one is not super gender-focused and she also likes stuff with Cap and Hulk on it, and she

Yeah, I think it's an open secret that Superman is going to be in Justice League, but as far as the general public (i.e. people who don't waste their works hours here) knows he's dead. He's not in any of the trailers or press, though Henry Cavill has been doing the rounds. He'll be in it but who knows how long. It

Yes, I get the feeling that they're going to try and let her (undeniably sexy) accent do a lot of the heavy lifting for her.

I think it's fair to point out that DC was first across the line on a superheroine movie, but they have a bit of an advantage in that Wonder Woman is one of their most prominent and widely known properties. It would have been weird for them to ignore her. On the other hand they're apparently managing to have a

I don't dislike Chris Pine per se but like so much of the DCU he comes across here as a sadder, paler version of something that worked for Marvel - in this case, Chris Pratt.

It's also ok to admit that not everyone shares your opinion. I don't think anyone here is afraid to call a turd a turd simply based on the gender of the anus it emerged from. I'm pretty down on the DCU movies and while not everything about WW thrills me I don't think it looks terrible. It looks in fact like it
