Most of his stuff is parodying things that only he gets. That’s why so much of it flops. When it works, such as with Austin Powers or parodying his mother for Coffee Talk, it’s usually in spite of that fact.

All that tells me is he cares more about money than his (abysmal) values.

Raising Arizona is my #1 movie of all time. O Brother is up there. So is Hudsucker. Lebowski is fine, it’s funny, but it doesn’t have the same level of wit and heart what makes those so appealing to me.
