Yeah, a lot of the original DC inclusions were editorial edicts. That’s also why the original comic had Hell ruled by a triumvirate instead of solely by Lucifer, because that was the current state of DC continuity at the time. Not having to include those things allowed Gaiman to streamline a bit, and not waste time

I liked Johanna but I was disappointed that she basically had John’s backstory.  I was expecting something different since she is more or less a different character.

Ok, I’m just gonna say, nice reference.  The Hidden, original or not, is a classic.  Well done.  We need more Hidden references around here.  And “I Come in Peace” references, for that matter, too.

The DS9 joke at the end was the best.

Now playing

To date, Hollywood hasn’t done the iconic franchise the justice it deserves.

Discovery is actually better now that it is in the future and doesn’t have to constantly step carefully to avoid damaging the old movies and show timelines.

Politics and messaging have long been part of sci-fi and some fantasy. It’s when the author forgets they need to tell a good story first that we have problems.

Now THAT is actual competent literary analysis. A bit light on the theory/secondary sources, but that’s to be expected when targeting a lay audience. But it has an actual thesis, textual evidence, and well-thought out arguments. Very good work.

It might nice if the sub-title were legit English.

I feel like Palladium could get that moniker too even if that system is a mess of a thing.

My issue with the same I’ve had with the OGL, GURPS, Savage Worlds, Palladium, etc. I feel like a games system really helps establish the way it’s played and can really get you into a game. I remember the 3.0 D20 OGL(when the D&D 3rd edition rules went open source) boom where every company was making a D20

I think one of the benefits of the Cypher system is it takes maybe 15 minutes tops to explain basically all of the rules and is incredibly easy for a DM to improvise on the fly with.

I’m getting major “Disney exec saw their stepson playing The Outer Worlds and said, ‘Make it a movie,’” vibes.

I’m firmly on this team. We need a Bizarro Musk who is extremely reasonable, sane, and dedicated to colonizing Venus.

Team Venutian Cloud Cities all the way

She was one of the younglings from the opening scene, guarantee it.

I love that term, lol

It’s REAL hard for the last-of-a-series to get a novel nod unless the individual books had all been nominated along the way.  I’m thrilled that the Best Series category exists now, so something as brilliant as The Green Bone Saga gets the recognition it deserves.

At least Fonda Lee and Ada Palmer got series shout-outs, I guess - Jade Legacy and Perhaps the Stars were my #1 and #2 books for the past few years, and I can’t begin to understand for the life of me how something like Project Hail Mary beat those both out for Best Novel.
