Right you are. But my dad also got reassigned to new plant in another state thanks to the union. The commute sucked for 8 years, but then he got transferred back and thus never lost his benefits and was able to keep squirreling away cash in his PENSION.

Getting laid off as union member is almost always a much better experience than getting laid off as a non-union member. 

Exactly my plan; except I am doing the reserve officer route. I’ll stil getl a pension, (slightly less) but my civilian career won’t wait till I’m in my 40's to take off. Nursing is a phenomenal career.

I thought it was ironic that Harlem was shown as predominantly black on the show when IRL it’s the opposite.  I was always waiting for a gentrification scene but it never came.
