Myles -- I haven’t even read this review yet. But PLEASE let me tell you -- THANK YOU so much for writing these reviews up. The more Survivor content out there the better. Losing the AVClub’s reviews for recent seasons hurt me and I’m so pumped to see it back, especially for the most epic season of all time.

I’m sure I’ll check out the album once it’s out, but the last 3-5 years of Grimes has really dampened my desire for more Grimes content.

Gee, quashing unionization at Tesla and calling a guy who risks his life a child molester because the guy had the audacity to suggest that idiotic submarine wasn’t workable aren’t sufficient reasons to think Musk is a jackass?

I honestly wish they hadn't brought him in since he's scum. But oh well you can't help who the creators of a show you like are chummy with.

Problematic...you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Actually, if she truly is a sociopath, the last thing she should get is counseling:

13-17 year olds don’t have a completely developed emotional system for dealing with relationships. That’s why we have laws to protect them from adult predators. She’s coming from a fucked up place, but she got into it as a child, and couldn’t figure out how to get out of it as an adult.

I was reading this story an hour or so ago, in the waiting room for my therapist, who specializes in gender, sexuality, and their intersection with personality disorders. I showed this to her and she just got a confused look on her face and goes, “yeah, that’s a stumper.”

There’s far too many gender issues in this story than one could unpack in ten lifetimes.

The shot of Devon dying on the beach was amazing.

She’s a minor. This is not low-priority. This is how this shit gets normalized.

You’ve missed the point of you think this is about kissing.

Just like how most abusers start dude... they start with small things. excusable things... understandable things... say what you will about the scene... or about underage actors and kissing, but writing in the scene because she was uncomfortable? Read that : BECAUSE SHE WAS UNCOMFORTABLE AND THAT AMUSED THE DUFFER

1. We want you to eat this cupcake, and because you don’t like vanilla icing we specifically use vanilla. You can say no, but we’ll pressure you until you say yes.

This is however how the whole Weinstein, Spacey, Singer, Piven thing starts. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could prevent it from happening again before we add the Duffer brothers to the list? Before an underage actress is bullied into the next thing she’s uncomfortable with? Just a thought.

High school plays across the country call for 15-year-olds to do the same thing every year.

Generally, on professional sets, when sexual content is involved, everyone endeavors to make the actors involved as comfortable as possible. This is why such sets are often closed. Now, a kiss scene is not a sex scene, but to a young actor who hasn’t had their first kiss yet, there’s obviously a lot of nerves

But little things matter. If you normalize minor actions, it often leaves room for more serious offenses. That’s what this whole wave of allegations and outings has been about: How normalized these abusive dynamics have been. Moreover, in non-Hollywood parts of the world, it’s way easier for grown, professional adults

I don’t exactly understand why the article has drawn the ire of most of the commenters.

While maybe not as severe as other sexual assault/harassment cases being brought forth, this is still fucked up. It’s absolutely wrong that these guys would pressure a young actress into doing an on-screen kiss, and then gaslight her when she’s not okay with it. It’s abuse of power, plain and simple.
