You work as a Computer Scientist? I have a Computer Science degree and I am a software engineer aka software developer. I've never heard of anyone whose job title was "computer scientist".

You can also remove the blackout by using your browser and an adblocker to block [meta.wikimedia.org] (or some derivative thereof). I just used Firefox and saw the blackout. Added that to my adblocker and bingo, I'm in. #tips

I use my unlimited data plan and Atomic web browser to send web files home. In Atomic, long click on the link to download the file and one of the options is "Download File". Choose that and it will download to Atomic's local file storage. Once it's done, open the downloads and click the blue> button on the file. In

Sort of related... I bought a cheap clear case ($1 or so) for my ipod classic and put a strip of soft velcro on the back of it. I attached the corresponding "scratchy" velcro under my armrest in my car. Now, my ipod stays safe when using it in the car and the "soft" velcro on the back doesn't get in the way of

I see what you did there.

Dealextreme is great. Ordered from them more times than I can count. Will take ~3 weeks or so to get the stuff and some of it is blatant knockoffs, so beware, but a lot of the stuff they sell is dirt cheap because they make it there and cut out the middleman. I buy all my ipad/ipod accessories there SOOO much cheaper

My fave gamestop experience...

Ok, I have to admit, that's a clever hack, but I'd much rather spend $3.50 and get this: [www.dealextreme.com] I have one and it's great. Simple plain, clear plexi bent so it has two diffent angles.

I tried Dolphin yesterday. I wanted to use webzine to browse all my favorite sites but only one was listed (lifehacker) and you can't add your own custom ones (via RSS) which IMHO is a huge ovresight. So instead, I put my sites in the speed dial but really speed dial doesn't seem a whole lot better than just having

stop feeding the trolls, everyone!

it does work with windows itunes

There is no "managing" for me. I just use it any time I want to surf. Yes, email links open safari, but any time I choose to browse, I use Atomic. Once cool feature I use is that it can download files and store them in the app itself. Very handy if you have a fileserver on your network and want to put some movies on

The MythBusters recently did a car in "spray bedliner" (protects your pickups truck's bed) - I thought it actually looked pretty cool and might look decent on the right car/truck. Not sure how much bedliner costs though (and don't feel like googling).

To open a jar, take a butter knife and whack the edge of the top about 6 or so times, rotating the jar to spread out the whacks/dents. Then open it easily. Works every time - been doing this for years.

Replying to myself... someone already figured this out and even hacked it to serve up their own ads (images): [www.pierotoffanin.com]

Couldn't you do something similar by figuring out what Amazon server serves the ads and blocking that server/domain at your wifi router? By doing that, it would not be able to get ads but, assuming it gets books from a different server, it could still get books.

Only vaguely related but this reminds me of the time I found $810/lb meat at the grocery store:

I too hide Safari in an unused folder. I never intentionally use it - I use Atomic.

I was thinking this too - sorta. That this was about the old Ultraviolet movie and how it could rescue movie sales - made no sense to me.

I've blogged on myvogonpoetry.com since 2005 :) I also own gruntbug.com and spaceisbig.com and I met Douglas Adams once and have two items signed by him. Gruntbug (short for gruntbuggly) was my Quakeworld handle back in... well, I don't know the years but a long time ago :)
