IMO “grunt” is not HP, it’s torque. The new 3.5 Taco V6 makes 278hp and 265 (or thereabouts) ft, lbs. The problem is that it comes on so high in the rpm range that it’s not very useable. Torque peak is like 4300rpm, hp peak is even higher. Less than ideal for a “truck” engine. A 200hp V8 that makes 300 Ft Lbs under 3k…

Sad. That was my only thought as well. I don’t know why these cars were made, but my belief is that their entire purpose in life was to be enjoyed - hard and fast as that little V8 would allow while swaddled in semi-luxury.
