Just fine as long as both are not rear facing. I’m 6ft and never had problems in the 4th gen Outback with two seats. Hell we even put three boosters in on occasion.

At $42k is that much better than an optioned out Outback which I would think would be around $32k?

Definitely not the size of the tires or the lift that matters in snow. If you are running mud terrains, and even most all terrains, realize those are not good snow tires. I have passed many a lifted vehicle with oversized tires in the snow and slush with an outback shoed in proper snow tires.
