Any tips for drivers since half of those 3000 assaults were against drivers?

the stat is a victim of rounding. It’s not 1 out of 1000, it’s 1 in 5000. And it’s not raped or killed, it’s a very wide range of behaviors categorized as “sexual assault” which encompasses “any physical or attempted physical contact that is reported to be sexual in nature and without the consent of the user. That’s not the quote from Uber. That’s the quote from the Jalopnik writer.

This is why comparative stats ar necessary. This site is continually trying to spin Uber in a negative light. They stretch the truth quite a bit to make their points. That is why they are going to publish numbers only, for psychological impact. Actually taking the time to see how safe it is compared to other services

Not according to the report, which apparently you didn’t read and the author decided to take liberties in reporting.

So is 0.0002%, and you ignore that.

I’m still not sure what the point you’re trying to make here is, but I’ll take a guess anyway...

Crimes are typically rational in some way (risk/reward), and crimes like assault are largely based on opportunity. Ride sharing provides a unique opportunity where access is relatively easy: a stranger has paid very little

Thats not the number.  That lawyer threw it out there flippantly, but the actual percentage is 99.9998.  99.9 would be absolutely atrocious.

5,500 incidents out of 1.3 billion rides is actually quite low.

I’d like to know how those numbers compare with simply going outside on a daily basis. I’d wager a guess that you’re still far safer calling for an Uber after dark than walking home alone.

Funko Pops are a funny thing when it comes to pricing and most places charge a $2 premium over the MSRP if it is in fact $8.99. Which I can’t prove of outside of Target charging $8.99 as a standard, Amazon is $10.99, Gamestop is $11.99, Hot Topic is $12.50, Barnes and Noble is $9.99, and Best Buy is $9.99. Wal-mart

How do we know it’s discounted? It’s only been out a few hours and has been the same sub $9 price the entire time. Are they possibly going to raise the price in the future?
