Shh - I don’t want this idea taken before I make my first millions and fund it myself ;). This is my dream “gritty reboot” project.

I can’t believe how much hated this perfectly reasonable post is getting, from people who seem to have passed right over your disclaimer.

It’s not really a statement about how the game was made. How the game was made doesn’t matter. It’s a statement about what the game will feel like while playing it, based on the trailer.

I wonder if one of the reasons that Nintendo isn’t keen to throw their brand behind the grassroots fighting game community is because the institutions involved have trouble streaming a major tournament without the winner cursing into the microphone?

To me the only thing they appear to have learned is that saying “monthly” set people off. The new program they described just says you’ll have access to a library of games for as long as you’re a subscriber. Well - that describes exactly what we already thought we were going to get. The only detail we had before,

Sure, but that’s no different than the reality of a game-without-DLC, which will become much cheaper over time. Pricing and scheduling of releases will adapt over time just like consumer behaviors around early-adopting and waiting-for-the-discount.

Go Fire Ferrets!

I’ve deflected rocks back at Octoroks with it, so I assume it also works with arrows.

I love Majora’s Mask, but its timer does present a legitimate problem that keeps it from greatness. Even for someone who knows the game inside and out, there is a lot of unnecessary repetition in that game, due to some quest progress not being saved. (You’ll likely play through a decent portion of the swamp, for

Why do you recommend this? I find the motion controls much better for fine-grained aiming of shots with the bow than using the right joystick.

You’re right, but i would love a good explainer showing that the wifi settings will be better than on the Wii and Wii U (which can only store three wifi profiles and require you to manually select one instead of automatically connecting like every laptop and cell phone ever.

Now I have this picture in my head of Trump in Dumbledore’s old office while all the previous headmasters’ portraits pine for the good ol days.

There is no scenario with Nintendo Switch where you are in the car and need voice chat. It isn’t able to go online unless you’re on wifi, just like other home consoles. The phone app for chat makes sense insofar as it’s a local microphone and speakers that you probably already have. Not perfect but not terrible

I disagree with this, for me personally at least. I can understand wanting the console to notify you someone has invited you, and that kind of thing, but I find that nobody is online consistently enough for me to realistically ever invite them to play a game while they’re at their console. I would much rather know

Think about it this way: Every software company has to prioritize the most important features that are going to get the most use from their customers. Nintendo realized they needed to deliver a way to handle things like friend invites, voice chat, and text chat, in a universal way, on the Switch. They needed to

I knew someone would call me out on all the many times since DK arcade that Mario has been ‘in the real world’ :)
Like Mario is Missing, Mario’s Time Machine, the Super Mario Bros. movie, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games...

Sure, I’m not commenting on the paid vs free part, just the idea that you access those features from the app. I think it makes total sense to invest on those in the app before (or instead of) anywhere else (like in an overlay in the console itself). I think this is true regardless of whether a subscription is required

Online stuff through smartphone sounds great to me. Don’t have to buy a headset, easier to get friends to voicechat, easier to text chat, can get game invites while I’m not on my console. I wish they would all do that.

I agree with everything except the New Donk City part - that part is awesome.

I believe the LEGO game is a remake or sequel to LEGO City: Undercover, which Nintendo published on the Wii U. The Dragon Ball Z game looks like it’s probably Xenoverse 2. The trailer also shows a Bomberman game (and Bomberman appears at the beginning of the reel).
