Well, going forward the PS4 slim will cost $299, if I am remembering the conference correctly. And since the slim is meant to replace the original PS4 (which still costs $350) it is kind of like a price drop.

It just was never released on the PS4. Japan got it on the PS3 a few years back but it took a while to localize, so we just got it last year.

To be fair, though, that was kind of what Microsoft had said initially...and ultimately they found a way. Not a perfect solution by any means, but better than nothing imo.

I would pick Animal Crossing: New Leaf as a good “perpetual game.” It’s so relaxing! I could finally work towards filling up the museum, and building an awesome house! Get lonely? Go talk to all of your animal neighbors!

Honestly? I think it’s just... Game design. I don’t know why it doesn’t happen earlier, other then the devs created a scripted sequence of events meant to occur at a certain point in the game. You’re right, it’s weird and I don’t know.
