Oh, fuck yes! That had a killer groove. Thanks for the remind.

"What, no _____???!?!?!??!?!??"
"You forgot _____!1!!1!111!" (I see this especially on the dreaded social media and on every comment section of every list article All. The. Time. No, you fucking sad sack pedant, maybe the person saw it and it didn't make their list. Just recently I revisited a list of Edgar Wright's…
I love Romy & Michelle, and it holds up. I loved Mira's weird, random vaguely Midwestern non-sequitur accent in it, despite the fact that they're all from Arizona. "Oh, Ramon!"
I remember seeing that in theaters and everyone was laughing pretty uproariously (including me and my friend) despite it's goofy premise. I need to see that again. All I remember was Murray being goofy hilarious and Alfred Molina hamming it up as the baddie. It's been 20 years, so definitely worth another spin.
"I don't trust Melanie, but I trust Melanie to be Melanie."
That's' a solid list. Great job, you from 20 years ago!
I was happy David O Russell got him out (if only for a moment) of his long turkey spell. Loved him in Silver Linings Playbook.
I need to rewatch Romper Stomper. That's a very harsh movie, but you can see why Hanson thought Crowe would be a great casting choice for LAC.
Oh, I adored the hell out High Heels and Low Lives.
You should. I need to see it again myself. Holy Ghost Power!
Thanks for the tip! Sounds right up my alley. Speaking of alleys, I've been enjoying the hell out of TCM's Noir Alley; Eddie Muller does a great job in providing interesting contexts & introducing me to lesser known gems. Adding it to my book cue.
He apparently was chosen because Hanson saw his potential in coiled rage incarnate in Romper Stomper. What a brilliant casting move on Hanson's part.
Yeah, that's right! American Tabloid I read in 1995 or 1996, concurrent with Casino* two more three-person non-traditional (to put it mildly) character arcs.
That was a great soundtrack (Danny Boyle's always consistent), I enjoyed the hell out of that. It introduced me to the band Ash, too. That movie is joyous.
Outside of my top 3 of LA Confidential/Boogie Nights/Jackie Brown; I'm very happy to see Errol Morris' Fast Cheap and out of Control, Wong Kar-wai's Happy Together, The Apostle mentioned (a masterpiece of acting), and The Ice Storm represented here. Titanic & Face/Off don't belong here, IMHO. The rest I either liked…
I saw it in the theater with a friend and when off screen stagehands kept chucking doves into that church, we couldn't stop laughing.
I need to give this a revisit. Thanks for making me aware that there's a DC!
At the risk of appearing boringly congruent with the commentariat, I have to say hands-down these were my top three of 1997, in this order:
Upvoted for Mimic, because Guillermo del Toro & Mira Sorvino.
Wrong, feel bad, etc.
