Ha that’s true; even if a trilogy was studio-mandated, they could’ve simply made them 90 minutes each. Perhaps Jackson felt that it “wouldn’t be Lord of the Rings” without an epic length.

Yeah, in theory it was a good idea for Hobbit to create brand-new subplots rather than simply stretch out the existing plot to its limit (like Mockingjay did), but very little of the stuff they added was particularly interesting. Honestly, if they were really committed to splitting it into three three-hour movies,…
This season will only have eight episodes, two less than season one.
Even if he said it exactly how it’s edited, it still never seemed damning to me. I assumed he was whispering to himself sorta sarcastically, like talking how other people would think about him. (The signatures matching, though, now that seemed damning.)
What a bizarrely specific idea to even be in discussion.
Omfg I’ve literally been wishing for nine years that a) Maika would return for a sequel, and that b) it would be titled They Follow. Not that impressive of a guess I’ll admit, but only because They Follow is like the most perfect sequel title possible. Following the Alien–Aliens format! EDIT: Lol the article already…
CinemaScore still a very good A−. Guess I can’t be too mad about it having a good opening weekend then, if it’s found its target audience.
(12 years later) Oh my god I forgot about that fucking button
This. I actually greatly prefer The Force Awakens to The Last Jedi, but TLJ making less money than TFA is very much to be expected for this series. (That doesn’t mean its divisiveness wasn’t a factor—it’s certainly possible—but we’d need more analysis than “it made less money than the first one” to declare that.)
I suspect Solo bombed less because Ron Howard is a workmanlike director and more because Lucasfilm overestimated how much intrinsic interest people have in a prequel starring young Han Solo.
Yeah, I’m glad they split it into two parts, but they should have pulled an Infinity War / Endgame (whose titles were wisely changed from Infinity War – Parts 1 and 2, despite clearly being two parts of one story). Also, calling it The Divergent Series: Ascendant instead of Allegiant – Part 2 was a good idea, even if…
Important to remember that the opinions of professional activists ≠ the opinions of the everyday people they represent. Many surveys (possibly most) indicate that disabled people actually prefer “identity-first” language over “person-first”. (Similar to the “Latinx” situation.)
So what if he impacted her decision? A man is allowed to have his opinion heard, and the woman is allowed (but obviously not obligated) to take that opinion into account. That does not equate to someone else making the decision for her.
Frankly, even if she did, so what? If a woman wants to take the man’s own opinion into account when making her decision, that’s still her choice.
Seriously, what an awful attempt at stoking outrage this headline is. A man has the right to express his preference about an abortion—even if it’s a very strong preference. And a woman has every right to either take his opinion into account, or to ignore it completely.
I’ve been rooting for Timothée to become a star since my teenage gay crush on him during Homeland season 2. Took a little longer than I’d hoped, but glad it’s happening!
Only thing I remember about the movie was the casino scene, everything else is just gone
Meh. Doesn’t really seem like a moral stand worth boycotting. If the AVC wants to fill ad space with a link to one of its greatest humiliations ever, that’s their prerogative. (Also it’s definitely the clicks that matter, not the comment count.)
Japan’s eventual surrender wasn’t in question, and the war would not have lasted years longer without the nukes, but it’s also generally agreed that the alternative—Operation Downfall, the planned invasion of Japan—would have killed way more people on both sides. (The US manufactured so many Purple Hearts in…
Wasn’t Matt Singer the one who coined that term? Pretty sure he was. (Glad we eventually settled on “legacy sequels”, though.)
