Yeah they’re basically any layer that allows you to have your legs out without having your legs out. They're one of my favourite garments both for warmth and cause my legs look fantastic in black 40ish denier tights (well, they did 5-10 years ago. Now it's just better than they do without them hah)

It’s not relevant to anything but “British tights” are any layer of material that’s tight to your legs and envelopes your feet.

No tights is any kind of thin-ish material with both legs attached, enclosed feet and a smoothish top.
