I’ve driven the 5 door hatch 280hp Cupra and it’s very nice. The wife has the FR wagon with 184hp and DSG... She loves it. Rumour has it that a 240hp Cupra Diesel is in the mix - from the new Passat. I’d get her into one of those in a heartbeat....

While $3k for custom shoes is a little off the mark, I known where he is coming from. There are many here who will have a TV that cost that. Or a Gaming console with lots of games and accessories that cost that. A custom gaming PC could cost way more than that.
