Having driven the 550D - triple turbo 3.0L - I can tell you it's an astonishing engine. Not quite as fast or smooth as an M5 but sweet baby jesus the torque..... It, unlike the M5 is x-drive and all the better for it. I will admit though that x-drive in an M5 would not be a good thing.
