@kagekiri: I think the point that I'm trying to make doesn't contradict the show's inspirations and direct influences. A great deal of Avatar is taken from Asian culture, like you've listed, but I'm trying to suggest that the film can stay faithful to the ideas of the show without casting actors of Asian descent.

@CodenameV: Aang can't be Asian either though can he? I mean there's no Asia in the Avatar world.
