235hp really doesn't tell the whole story of the performance of this car. Stock, most magazines had them in the low 5s high 4s 0-60. Everyone knows Buick underrated these engines, it's clear based on 1/4 mile trap speeds. The stock 330 lb-ft of torque had something to do with that.

I DD'd my 1970 El Camino from the age of 16-19, and that was a great experience. I must be the luckiest guy in the world, because a 1970 El Camino w/ a carbureted 350 on 220,000 miles never rebuilt shouldn't be as reliable as it is.

Cardboard in the front of radiator, specially on Diesels. People don't seem to use this trick too often any longer, but was common when I was growing up.

I'm sure he's aware of what a new or halfway decent used 4 Runner costs these days. I'd be most extreme mama bear protective of one too.
