Watched some videos of this place on YouTube, there are literally 100’s of videos, and all of them run it the same direction, clockwise. So really to say it is the driver went the wrong direction sort of insinuates he did something wrong, when he obviously did not.

Looks like they were probably running clockwise, I guess the driver probably lost control overcooking it through the turn before they skidded off track into the rail. The rail pointing to the track like that is a bit disconcerting for the direction they were running.
