For me it’s some form of rehashed Gundam 0079 with elements from Gundam Seed (also a Gundam 0079 rehash) but with somehow even more obnoxious high school drama... When it ended it did it with the right tone (notwithstanding if Lelouch was driving the cart or not).

They didn’t have jet engines in TaleSpin, Baloo was tasting on of the first prototypes. Also they didn’t have television (the little girl constantly listening radio shows). So 1930-ish sounds plausible.
