I really wouldn't call the commercial dumb. During Mii Fighter's announcement trailer they showed US celebrities (Elijah Wood and Ice T) as well and people seem to love it. So, doing the same by showing the biggest Japanese group in a Japanese commercial is quite a smart idea.
