Big difference between being a lovable douche and a guy who tries to get his gf pregnant without her consent, tells her she can't make her own decisions, does not respect her wishes to work, is obsessive about babymaking (when he never was before), and in his retro-written 2007 character, calls her a joke and makes

Somehow I had you figured for a Mads fan! Oh, I'm all over Pajiba and everywhere else. My Mads obsession was borderline unhealthy. I'm taking a break from him with Messina. I feel kinda guilty, cheating on Mads..lol. They're TOTAL opposites physically, but they were both dancers at one point. And are both brilliant at

I think that shows how good an actor he is. He is good looking (gorgeous eyes) but he can turn it on and off depending on the roles. When he turns it on…holy crap! 28 Hotel Rooms—omg. He was so sexy, dark, and smoldering (also naked) in that I had to have my smelling salts. Right now, because his character is so

I think you're giving the writers too much credit. It does not feel to me that they have a long-term plan. It feels like they're shooting from the hip every episode. And now that they've made Danny borderline abusive, he's going to have to go through a major learning process to make his redemption realistic. Maybe

IMO, they already have.

I'm that old too. Yeah, I think the argument going on about whether Danny's character is consistent etc. really comes down to tone. Before, Danny's foibles were funny and you could give any jerkiness of his a lot of latitude, 'cause it was a just a comedy. But now that it's gone serious—you really can't just brush it

Doesn't excuse how they've written him. Danny trying to secretly get her pregnant? Telling her she can't think for herself? Insisting on a second baby when he never wanted one before? Ugh. There are so many other ways they could have gone with this.

Can we pause this very intelligent, analytical discussion for a serious question? How the hell did Chris Messina go from cute, cuddly, but not all that memorable sidekick guy (Julie & Julia, Six Feet Under) to dark, smoldering, smokin' hot, charisma guy? (28 Hotel Rooms, Damages). I was watching "Made of Honor" last

I think it may be both. Not saying CM wants to leave but maybe he wants to be scaled back. Dude has a whole bunch of movie projects going on.

Because couples that stay together have nowhere to go in terms of a story arc. It's just not as interesting for them to stay together. If they stayed together happily ever affter—-then what? And also, it is probably because CM wants more time for his various movie projects.

Boom! I'm stealing that line.

OR—and this is TOTAL speculation—Messina himself wanted to go more into dramatic mode. He is primarily a dramatic actor. He has been quoted as saying comedy is not where he's most comfortable, and that he hopes he and MK will have more serious scenes. But I'm just speculating.

"Danny better than anyone always gets her." Upvote 1000 times! Whether he used to be a jerk or not, this is true. This new Danny doesn't even try to get her.

But it IS inconsistent. There's no doubt of that. The whole show is uneven and the tone is way off.

Again, he's never been controlling and mean to this degree—but we'll have to agree to disagree!

He's got 15 projects going on at all times, and who knows with scheduling. Maybe he wanted to take a break.

No, I'm not either. Especially since MK has talked about future episodes where Chloe Sevigny comes back and Danny has to deal with his first marriage. But if they haven't begun shooting that yet, anything could happen. I personally think Chris should move on and use his considerable acting chops in film and prestige

I'm a writer, so I'm trying to dream up a better scenario. I know! He gets some dread disease and has to be quarantined for four episodes. There. Solved. Hire me, show.

That's a good question. I don't envy the writers that one. I don't think they should have done the whole baby story line to begin with. Without the baby, he could gone on a professional doctor's fellowship or something like that. But because of Messina's schedule, they were forced to come up with that storyline. And

Maybe there was another time in the pilot, but he told her to lose 15 lbs. after she made a really nasty comment about him being a failure in his marriage. That wasn't him being mean for no reason. It was a response to a jab she made that really hurt him. Danny being vicious for no reason is not in character. And even
