If you watch the whole video, the wound it pretty serious and its clear the dog wasn't "playing". And it does appear that cat ran the dog off, and then came back to guard the kid again.

It's disappointing that, to some, dogs are still held in higher regard than children.

The cat was so badass that the mom left the injured boy alone with the cat to protect him while she went to ... call for help/run for her life/confront the neighbor. Naturally, the poor boy was like "WTF, where did you go?"
