The best time to avoid justice is never.

He knew.

I hate that it opens with him saying he did his best to make Blizzard a safe and welcoming place for people of all genders. Like, no the hell you didn’t. We all sometimes do our best and find that our best isn’t good enough, and that isn’t what happened here. We do not go from anyone’s “best” to the behaviors and

There’s nothing confusing about “use both” and saying you don’t understand that is disingenuous. You’re obviously NOT following your own policy to use someone’s stated pronouns if you’re saying “using both is too confusing so I’ll use neither.”

For people who use he/they or she/they pronouns, avoiding using any pronouns at all is definitely being shitty. Using no pronouns instead of using they/them pronouns some of the time is VERY noticeable, and it sucks.

I shouldn’t be surprised—but I somehow still amabout the responses you’re getting trying to legitimately claim that yes, it’s too much work to actually just use the pronouns that people ask for. And especially in print, where you can just go edit it to say whatever you want before you hit publish. Two is too many!

Halsey has indicated that they want the press to use both pronouns.

My understanding is that Halsey has indicated this preference—that both her pronouns are used rather than one to the exclusion of the other—in the past. Which, if that’s the case, definitely makes their anger understandable. I think we’re on the same page there.

Short answer: Yes!

Also godDAMN I shouldn’t be surprised, but the transphobia in some of the ungrayed comments here... y’all, it sucks.

“She/they” indicates that the person uses either. Halsey has indicated that they want the press to use both pronouns.

And anyway, I think the biggest issue that I’m commenting on isn’t one of *gasp* MISGENDERING. It’s just kind of a shitty experience to use several pronouns and see people take that in as just “okay, I don’t have to acknowledge that you’re not binary.” Like, it sucks. Is it evil, or the worst transphobia someone will

Yes, if someone tells you that, that’s true. It would not be misgendering to use “she” with someone who explicitly tells you that you can use “she.”

I think it would be pretty uncommon for someone to want a perfect balance between she and they pronouns. It is, however, extremely common for non-binary people to be super frustrated with cis people seeing multiple pronoun use as an excuse to completely ignore or erase in their minds that the person is non-binary. And

Switching isn’t necessarily a super common request, but wanting people to recognize the use of they/them pronouns is extremely common. People who use they/she and people who use they/he often deal with people just kind of going “oh, phew, don’t need to use they/them ever” and that understandably sucks.

This fucking sucks! It is not hard to respect wishes with regards to pronouns, especially when the article itself notes those wishes!

Translation always includes an element of adaptation. Idiomatic expressions are rewritten to be sensible to not just the language but also the culture being targeted by the translation. Gestures may need to be explained or changed. Hell, even the hesitation-noises and environmental sounds may need to be “translated”

I didn’t say fandom is violence. I said actively or vocally displaying that fandom platforms Rowling, and Rowling has been using that platform to do violence.

Damn, you are REALLY reaching for a gotcha here, aren’t you? It’s not that hard: displaying HP merch is supporting Rowling, and I don’t think my loved ones are safe around people who openly support Rowling. This all stems just from me saying that there are ways to support an author’s platform without directly putting
