The Wrangler doors can't really help that much in crash tests.  Not relative to a normal car being tested with the non easy to remove, but technically removable doors being removed. 

I own an ecoboost transit van for work...over 40,000 miles a year. Many in Utah snow storms. I wish I could turn off the turbos in the snow. It’s not really laggy but you really do need to feather the pedal a lot to avoid having too much power and slipping on steep uphills. I would hate it for rock crawling.

The FJ is a VERY big 2 door. Not much smaller than a 4 door Wrangler and it's far less bare bones inside.  They really aren't competitors.  

Jeep has definitely made RWD Wranglers...

Gootta save somewhere.  It's steel rotors or cheap Chinese wheels and tires.  

Track car...maybe planned to be used on a track with more turns.  They can easily tune this to get more power or mod it.  A V12?   All the weight seems less appealing IF you're building this for the track

If it's anything like front engine vetted, a used one won't be so spend in 10yrs.   If they're close to the relative reliability of a C6, there's a decent chance I'll buy one...if they ever make one that's leather free because I'm an annoying vegan
