Actually, I'd never thought of that but Subaru could satisfy the half of former WRX hatch buyers by bringing back a manual Forester XT. I'd buy one right now.

If you're going to buy a collector car at the height of the bubble, this is at least the one you'll never regret driving.

I own an E39 manual wagon, a Porsche 993, and DD a 24V VR6 GTI. Thought about a manual X3, but I just don't like driving it. I've considered buying a V wagon - how do you like yours? I found the interior to be nowhere near the quality of my E39 wagon, but I've not driven one.

You own an E39 V8 and a V wagon? I like your style.

Is it just me, or does the 944 get better looking each year? By far the best looking car on the list.

I'm sorry, but the Transformers aesthetic has ruined car design - and Lexus is the worst.

So, I have a question. I love the crazy fun of the Abarth, but it's too small. I love the FRS/BRZ, but they don't have enough space for crap. I test drove the GTI, but it was a hypercompetent snoozefest. I found the Fiesta ST not as engaging as I'd expected.

This and the I3 are the most refreshing interiors I've seen since the original TT, and I'm hoping they will both have the same impact as the TT did when it moved the industry away from 90s interiors.

El Aztek Loco

I owned a 6.9 for a couple of years in the mid 2000s. The interior on the 6.3 is much better, in my opinion. The 6.9 was among the first generation to move beyond the hand-built, gem-like dashes of wood, chrome and leather. Interestingly, I bought a Dodge Magnum (needed a wagon) a couple years after owning the 6.9

Doug - this really rings true to me. I would say that today's Subaru shopper was yesterday's VW, Volvo or Saab owner along with more than a few Honda and Toyota conquests. I actually think that if Subaru hired some good product designers (interiors especially) they could surpass VW's old 800k goal by 2018. I bought

Ice cold.

Buy a high mileage Cayman or Cayman S - you'll likely enjoy it more than a 996 GT3.

A good friend just bought one (I might have helped enable him). The 996 GT3 is a car you need to test drive before buying. It is not an easy car to drive - it has a real racing clutch that is heavier than anything you've likely ever driven and it will kill you if you don't understand its limits. This is the closest

It sounds like Ward's asked the right questions.

I like the look of that console proboscis.

Like the noble Saracen knight, I have faced the torn Milano timing belt and been purified of my disposable cash only to be renewed by the mellifluous tone from my snake's tailpipe.

A similar but largely forgotten car is the first generation 1986-1990 Acura Legend with a spectacular Honda 6 cylinder 2.7L and manual transmission, and a nimble lightweight chassis. My dad had a 1990 and it remains one of my favorite sports sedans. Much more a drivers car than the ES300.

As a Texan, this is the second time for me. First was going to Switzerland and admitting that pot prohibition might not jibe with libertarian ideals.

Uncanny. If you're going to steal, you might as well rip off the Italians. Then make it drive like a Mazda.
