The issue is that the car is parked on the street and its MOT ran out in March, and road tax in June. Which is illegal, and means that it’s kind of a dick move to be leaving an untaxed, un MOT’ed, and likely uninsured vehicle on the public highway.

Neutral:

You think drilling for oil is clean? At least the lithium is recyclable.

The first car I ever drove was a manual. I’ve barely driven automatics. But of course things are different here in the UK, where almost everyone can drive a manual.

Absolutely! Especially when it’s a little slow car with skinny tyres. My old Polo was a great example of this- it was a base model, with the 12v 1.2 3-cyl putting out 65PS (when it was new). Skinny little 14" tyres, a slick little 5-speed gearbox, and you could trash it driving 10/10 ths and you’d not be breaking the

I know what you mean! My Ibiza has similar power to the old 1.6- 115PS. It’s a hoot on a twisty road, and in proper James May style, you are driving a slow car fast, so not be breaking the law or be in too much danger.

That’s the sort of figures I’d expect for a car like the Pao. It’s worth pointing out though to all the people who say all the emissions stuff has destroyed fuel economy- I was getting about those figures (slightly less perhaps) in my old 2002 VW Polo 1.2, which had slightly more power (65PS) and was a lot less

I too would like a legendary loaf.

The thing that I don’t get about the Coupe/Roadster is the existence of the regular hatch and convertible. Those cars have the same silliness and fun on the road, but have a smidge more practicality and cost less money (at least when new- I’ve no idea how the used prices went).

Now playing

The European spec Ka+ did a lot better. Not a *good* result, but a much better result, with 3* from EuroNCAP. In particular the side impact looks significantly better, not only because the European spec car has side and curtain airbags, but also it looks like the Brazilian car doesn’t have side impact beams.

Some mundane cars do have a use to those vents. Some have a little aero slot that smooths air over the wheel to reduce drag, which I can totally get on board with.

And I thought my 30 mile each way commute was bad.

It’s funny, in Europe, some incredibly mundane cars have long had liftbacks. Then Audi made them slightly prettier and they’re suddenly a special thing.

I don’t think they were necessarily bad cars, but it’s not a looker.

My first car was a very basic 2002 VW Polo. It didn’t have anything for the doors apart from the dome light, and had an idiot light for the boot. Later had a 2007 Focus which had a generic light, along with the words ‘Front left door ajar’ or whatever scrolling on the little 1 line display in the dash cluster.

I’ve heard of fixed panoramic roofs needing replacement due to poor fitting at the factory causing stresses in the glass which fail over time. Opening ones seem less likely to crack but more likely to fail around the seals/mechanism causing leaks.

I’m sure I’ve seen somewhere a company that can fit older Leafs with the newer larger capacity batteries, as they all fit in the same space.

One of the things VW UK are doing with Seat is to minimise options and streamline the whole buying process.

It is- but it’s the same importer. VW UK.

I’m pretty sure they would argue that the back and sides of the headrest are areas you don’t ‘touch’.
