A bicycle, maybe, but it didn’t do that great in the EuroNCAP crash tests. It only got 3/5 stars, and unlike some other very poor performances recently (the new Wrangler, for example) it wasn’t mostly penalised by a poor assistance score, but by poor performance in the actual crash tests.

The Opel/Vauxhall Meriva B has basically the same door configuration as this new Continental.

That could have been the multi collision braking system. It looks like a recent X3 in the pic, and I know more modern BMWs have it available. The moment the car thinks it’s in a crash it applies the brakes, the idea is to prevent a second impact if the driver is incapacitated, either through injuries or through

Sort of. The emissions standards VW are bitching about are not for overall emissions. They’re the EU6d ‘Temp’ standards, which have majorly fucked VW over because they weren’t prepared for them. A number of models have disappeared (some temporarily) because they haven’t retested them. Some are disappearing for good

Loads of people rebadge there cars here as the performance variants. Normally really badly. Such as the ‘RS4' I saw that still had the ‘2.0 TDI’ badge on the other side, the many ‘//M318d’s, or the ‘Golf GTI’ with the base model interior that sounds suspiciously like a diesel!

Im pretty sure the old 2002 VW Polo I had as my first car did the auto reverse wipe. My current car, a 2016 Skoda Fabia, certainly does it. I think it's pretty common (and definitely very useful). VAG cars also put the air recirculation on when you put it in reverse too, in order to prevent fumes from coming into the

That too, although I don’t have much person experience of being a lesbian!

This. The Fiesta and Focus are primarily designed for the European market, where they’re both HUGE sellers. And are not available as a sedan any more at all (the Focus was in the Mk.1 and Mk.2, and has always also been available as a wagon). Things like the Mazda3, which is aimed much more at the US market, is

I feel like this is a distinct advantage to being a gay man. There is no societal pressure to stop being a child and have your own kids, so you can continue being irresponsible and partying hard if you so desire. I am 27, and a close friend who I often go partying with is 49. He has no intention of stopping going out

My friend has a 2010 Sirocco TDI with a DSG, and he’s not had any trouble. Not 10 years old yet, but it seems to be doing OK!

The previous Euro-Corolla (ie, the Auris, or Scion iM) was available as a hybrid, in hatch and wagon form. Now that the Corolla has gone back to being a ‘world car’, it was basically a given that they’d make a Corolla hybrid.

I love the interior, and the saloon looks great, but there’s something... off about the hatch. For some reason the C-pillar makes me think about the Austin Allegro

Absolutely. I drive a Skoda Fabia, which is about the size of the Ford Fiesta. That’s all I need. A 2-seater would be too small for me, but as I said, if you have 2 vehicles, the second rarely needs to be a practical hatchback.

Funny stories that fit with the ethos of the site, and therefore draw page views. It all boils down to money in the end.

I think this is the crux. If you can only have one car, then a GTI is a much better option because it covers so many more bases than the MX-5. But if you can have more than one car, or access to a family member’s car or whatever, then the MX-5 is a much better driver’s car.

My first car was a 2002 VW Polo with a 3-cyl 1.2 that put out 65PS, when it was new. It definitely didn’t have all 65PS by the time I got it. It was fine on the motorway. Would happily cruise at 80 all day.

Erm....

My car has a speed limiter, it’s great in those god-awful things. I set it at 50 and just don’t think about the speed- I sit there with my foot on the floor but the car won’t go above 50, but if traffic slows then I just drive normally. Makes life so much easier.

Take a look at the date I posted that ;-)

The A380's upper deck is structural, so there’s no getting rid of it without basically designing a whole new fuselage.
