Maybe I'm misreading it, but I thought JMP didn't say it never happened, just that it's so statistically rare compared to how its portrayed commonly (as a frequent occurrence).
Facts are, people are more likely to be hit by lightening than falsely accused of rape, but it doesn't mean people aren't still hit by

Rape jokes actually help trivialize and can even encourage rape.

Whining about "Millennials" and "youngsters" and complaining about people commenting on something that happened in pop culture on a pop culture site's comment section is pretty troll-y, though.

"At least have jobs and pay taxes"

Thank you. As a bisexual Black woman, I didn't even know where to start with this nonsense.

And if men would stop using their privilege, then we could address intersectionality.

"I look so-forward to your plan of attack that doesn't include painting white males with one broad brush."

"Chappelle's opinion is not the same as my opinion, or the opinion of anyone here"

Or lectures about how "PC culture" is a real thing and is really destroying entertainment and also free speech, so really, we should be supporting the free speech of the racist trolls that hacked Leslie Jones's computer. Also, it's about ethics in gaming journalism.

I'd say that people who are "very self-righteous in regard to issues of social justice" are the people that get offended enough to create a little name-call for those they disagree with ("social justice warrior") and also be horribly offended whenever an article (like this one) so much as even mentions bigotry.

Ahhh, I knew if I looked in the comments section long enough, there'd be someone pissed that Rabin is mocking the type of people who use the term "social justice warrior", and here it is.

Thank the Gods there are people whining about this bashing Trump and Republicans (you know, Republicans, that political party that existed when this season aired, when it coasted heavily on topical political humor, as SNL always has?). I would've thought something was wrong with the internet otherwise.

So far I've seen references to "white knighting", "everyone gets a trophy", and the fact this commentor grew up in a different time when "everyone wasn't a crybaby". It's kind of like every insufferable "think piece" about millennials written by an angry old racist white man had sex with a 4chan board slash r/redpill

Is Zelena’s hat with the feather the most ridiculous thing anyone has ever worn on this show? If not, what was worse?

I was lurking around the comments to offer exactly that. That was one instance in this show where I actually went
"Oh, THAT'S why that happened!"

Only girls can wear eyeliner and earrings. I read that on 4chan.

Aw, really? We're gonna go with "but ___ is white" and "because Europe is white"? This is a FANTASY series. It messes with fairytales as part of its, you know, thing.
But since you brought up it up…
