What baffles me is these are the same people who were crying about their liberty when they were complaining about the lockdowns. Now that those restrictions are getting rolled back, these complainers are getting exactly what they wanted. All they’re being asked to do while going about their business is to wear a mask

Maybe apocryphal, but didn’t Tolkien say his writing wasn’t allegorical (and even criticised C.S. Lewis for his use of allegory)?

At some point, among a large contingent of white America, ignorance became a virtue to be celebrated, and education a sort of betrayal of their perceived “rugged commoner” heritage. I blame country music, personally.

As a white person I wish I could explain this bizarre white person “I refuse to wear a mask” thing. I live in Providence RI and everybody here wears their masks in public, including white people. It seems like it’s a regional thing... where the region leans more Trumpian.

What’s funny is that this idea that Tolkien said “some creatures are made evil” is an absolute fabrication. Do you know how the orcs were created in the Lord of the Rings world? Do you know why the orcs are evil by design? Do you know much of anything about the creation lore surrounding that universe? If not, I’m

I’d like to break this down because there’s a lot of misinformation that’s spread by making simple but inaccurate generalizations.

Hi Feelin! A few handy links, since I dug into the science for you:

You know that it is perfectly fine to breathe through a mask and it will help people not die.

Gross...smell is a big component of taste. I do not want to smell the gloves while I eat.

My PC tower hasn’t shrunk all that much. Granted, I mostly use my laptop now, but my mATX case for my server/gaming machine is still pretty wide, even if it’s much shorter these days.

There is no doubt that drinking out of glass is better than drinking out of a can. I’d rather drink directly out of a bottle than directly out of a can but if there is a glass to pour it into, and all things are equal, a canned beer is never going to be worse than a bottled beer.

Many cars move quite vigorously in reverse just on idle, particularly when the engine’s still on high idle because it’s cold and the ATF is still cold and thicker. In fact, every car with an automatic transmission I’ve owned has moved more quickly in reverse than is prudent for backing up in a parking lot or really

Beer from a can normally tastes better - the can is just a little keg - but you gotta pour it into a glass, (drinking directly from cans just kinda sucks.) If no glass, then I’d go bottle.

What CCCC said, plus if some idiot isn’t paying attention or is looking for a collision/confrontation, my foot is on the brake to stop the vehicle.

Sounds like you drive a manual. In auto transmission cars, you probably control your low speed reversing with the brake pedal.

Um, I think most will try not to randomly rush out of a parking spot with wreckless abandon....

“They have agency to live elsewhere. They aren’t “forced” to live there.”

“A hoodless machine is no more aesthetically displeasing to me than one with a hood!”

You live in a community. You agree to abide by rules established by your community to keep it clean, pleasant, orderly, and safe. If you can’t abide, you can live somewhere else where your neighbors are far enough away to not care.

I agree. You storing a dozen awful looking cars you realistically won’t ever get all working I watched the video, and while entertaining, its a fucking mess man. I’m a slob who cant sell stuff and all those rusty heaps stressed me out. If you have a wrecked Kia which you have absolutely no good reason for having, you’r
