Eh doesn’t always work like that. I was in sports all throughout my childhood and quite good at a few of them but I had several friends I had made through sports just stop talking to me when they found out I was into star wars or MtG. 

As bfred said it does help, I lost a good bit of weight training for a triathalon. I was trying to lose weight before that too but the motivation of not dying during the race pushed me to work out more consistently and to push myself more. 

The DMB obsession back then was really annoying, at least my one friend who was obsessed with them has since changed his mind and thinks they suck now. 

I mean who actually keeps pens in their shirt pocket nowadays anyway, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone do that at my work, or in school growing up for that matter.

Eh in my experience people are expected not to eat or drink anything that wan’t bought for the party, even with my family no one would just go through someone else’s fridge without asking.
