as someone who passes through Oakland twice a day—donks and other poorly modified cars are often disabled on the 580. I once saw a Mustang with 2 of 5 lugnuts holding a wheel on—as we pulled to a stop on a freeway off ramp—having just drove over the Bay Bridge.

If you didnt have any of these mods, your car would have been slower and therefore you'd have missed the falling trees altogether and your car would be intact.

I also came here to say this. Nothing will convince this guy that his mods had sweet fuck-all to do with his escape, but he does now have an excuse to modify every car from here to eternity, so he has that going for him.

My father had a pinto for most of ten years and liked it very much. A larger family required a larger car so he sold it to the next door neighbor who drove it for another ten. I believe my mother even threw the car into reverse at about 30 miles per hour.

You know when the clowns on VW Vortex call a car ugly, the situation is terrible.

Fixed in 25 days. When bureaucratic red tape would create widespread public outrage—much can be accomplished.

Smog checks report mileage if you live in such a state.

seems that comment was directed more at diesel in general than any particular vehicle.

How is it possible that all of their parents were cousins? The odds are unbelievable!

and of course—not available in 'Merica. Big oil isn't going to let Joe citizen get 40% better mileage without draconian emissions requirements.

Acura: Massive improvement. The ass end is a bit fugly with the V shaped bumper/ trunk.

That is the ugliest steering wheel ever made.

Anytime a statement is followed by PERIOD, we all know what comes next:

The Toyota 22R or RE motor isn't overly enthusiastic, but in a standard two wheel drive '86ish truck, it had plenty of power.

Wow. I hadn't seen this. On top of it all—it has a Ferrari sticker. Like anyone would believe that? Ferrari doesnt use stickers for starters.

so, twice a day I'll have to pull the battery and wait 5+ minutes for a reboot, before I can remotely start the engine?

@80Supra: while you have a point, many utilities offer time of use discounts for off peak energy use.

@duurtlang: of course—I want the 170HP from the GTD that is supposedly coming to the US.

@Dan follows the Reinheitsgebot: I don't think that would help much, you'd have to take off all the badging and hope that you don't run into a knowledgeable cop—for the entire life of the car—because you could never sell it, not before it was 25 years old.

This is awesome! If we can't get an RS3, at least please send us a TDI Quattro A3, six speed manual.
