if I was going to be really upset that my mostly abandoned car had been crushed and sold for scrap, I might make the case I had irreplaceable items in it as well.

@Scotty_Beezle: Have to agree with you on that one. They look great with a lift and appropriate tires but then the engineer in me thinks about 12MPG in a daily driver. Pass.
That Jeep looks horrible without a lift and larger tires. Looks like an urban station wagon for a pathetic father of two. Like someone's dream of rural escape that is never actualized.
@badco/LoJ: I dont think I have seen one in ten years. Totally forgettable.
I'm wondering how the owners come to find their cars on Jalop? I'm sure a few have stopped the photographer to find out why their not so remarkable car is being shot? Some are possibly Jalop readers, and others are alerted by friends?
@CBR600F4i: How does one learn to do this without destroying a car or five. Seems like a steep learning curve.
@Smitty: They do smell strange. I have vivid memories of a neighbors 733i—awesome road car, but the smell would get me every time.
@Turbineguy - now with reheat!!: If I remember correctly that was a catalytic converter temperature warning.
@rigidjunkie: STI motor pumped to about 400HP. That would be all kinds of awesome.
@CABEZAGRANDE: if the photo is any indication he had been up for a few days and god only knows when the last time that car had any service done.
@Qurtyslyn: I'm quite certain the problem with that car had more to do with Jaguar than Costco.
For $12.9k you could have bought this:
@GåßëÊdwå®d§ - Jalopy Gopnik Hooligan: They warned me about this at the Mazda dealership when I took home my twin turbo 94 RX-7. Came close a few times but never wrecked it. The person who bought it from me did manage to put it in a ditch.
@ThunderSi: What a horrible event. You really need to pursue this civilly if they aren't going to take away a license.
@brachial_plexus: I drove an Acclaim a few times in the 90's. Paint was mostly peeled off even though it was only a few years old. I blew the transmission making a 3 point turn in the countryside at a very nice older couples house. The tow truck took hours to arrive. Hated that car.
@Ben Wojdyla: Do you think riding an old motorcycle or driving a car makes you an exciting person? If so.. you are doing it wrong.
@Ben Wojdyla: Yoda2 brings up a valid point—in a world of distracted soccer mom cell phone talking SUV drivers I wouldn't feel safe either.
@ferric oxide: Yer s'spossed to be cookin' brefast...it's like an alarm clock.
@Carl Spanoghe: I live in SF as well, and have noticed that Smart Cars no longer seem to park perpendicular in parallel parking stalls. Did DPT crack down on this?
