I think the biggest problem that most people have with the concept, is that they can't grasp that it's about extremes at both sides of the spectrum (i.e. bitterly cold winters and extra hot summers). They can't imagine that something called 'global warming' would also make it colder during the winter time.

What I'd like to see is someone do a thorough analysis of these cards NOT as photo/video memory but as random access memory; my understanding is these cards have optimizations for streamed I/O that don't carry over to purely random I/O.

Part of the problem is calling it Moore's "law" instead of "Moore's tendency" or something. Moore himself has said it isn't a law.

If that was just a lab prototype, that's what they all look like. The bigger and clunkier the better...more room for test harnesses and for engineers to get in there and debug.
