Except you got it backwards, Samsung phones had home hardware button before iphone even existed..

I’d take a hardware button on the button than software buttons that using up screen real estate.

That exact mentality why monitor manufactures stopped advancing in display resolution at 1080p for a decade - because nobody complained.

I don’t know how you are holding your phone, my hands are quiet small and I have absolutely no issues accessing home button with one hand on any of the Samsung Notes, regardless if I’m holding it, or it’s laying on a table.

Point is, there is no situation when back of a phone more accessible then front.

You just answered your own question. - you HAVE TO pick up your phone. With finger print on front, you don’t have to pick it up. There are situations when you can’t use finger print on the back, for example when phone is strapped to a dash board of a car or hand bar of a bike.
