As a mom of 2, this does not offend me. Although my judgement could be clouded because I fucking loved that bra while pumping 8 times per day for 6 months.

It did seem to escalate rather quickly? Also, Olivia Wilde has an unearthly beauty likely augmented by a good financial situation. Not sure she is the one to call foul on models not being true to life? The model in the picture seemed like an ordinary (attractive) person showing an ordinary product. Not sure she was

I mean she was just tied up, threatened, robbed, and mocked by the media for it right before all this. It’s not exactly easy to see other people’s breakdown when you’re likely having a lot of damaging emotional issues yourself.

I’m not quite sure what to make over the breast pump issue. Models are hired to do all sorts of stuff. For example, I was hired to eat a McRib one day for a shoot. I hate the McRib.

I dunno, I’m 35 and I’ve been having these conversations for twenty years so I guess I’m willing to have them for a bit more as long as they’re respectful, as this one was.

Margaret Cho is extremely vocal about issues facing Asian Americans and whitewashing of Asians in Hollywood. She has publicly been critical about the casting of Dr. Strange. They have a mutual friend that hooked them up at Tilda’s request, because she knew Cho had spoken out about these things. It’s not like she went

You’re a real moron.

The left currently has the problem of eating this kind of stuff right up, sadly. See the first article’s knee jerk comments. Manufacturing outrage works if you don’t expect your victim to fight back.

Slutpanic is generally very defensive/strawman-y. It’s not worth the effort.

I’m sorry to hear all of that about Margaret Cho. Based on this story though, I’m not sure how much of it I believe. It seems like Margaret Cho has a tendency to stretch the truth. In any case, you never explained at point Swinton forced Cho to interact with her. She literally said this at the end of her initial

“It’s really not a PoC job to teach white people about systemic racism.”

She did her research in regards to the COMIC BOOK portrayals and the history and was trying to put all of those things together (more than Cho did) and discuss the various aspects, as well as ask an Asian American co-worker about her personal feelings in order to get even more context. I’m sorry, but I cannot summon

Seriously. Googling shit is so much better than actually engaging with and talking to other human beings.

That’s the thing: it seemed to me as though she had done her research on multiple fronts and was not asking for anyone to manage her feelings. Just more context into the situation. So...? I guess if we’re seeing two completely different things we’re gonna be at an impasse.

I think Ms Cho is just starting to realize what we all already knew, which is:

I get why Cho said what she said, as per the references in the previous kinja article, but what stings is the bit where Cho was chiding Swinton for brining up a project where she was working on with Asians or Asian Americans. It feels very strongly like Cho let Swinton walk right into that trap, and then Cho used it

The overwhelming desire to be relevant?

How is asking questions equated as have Cho do Swinton’s “intellectual labor”? That assessment seems colossally unfair.

seriously. she didn’t need to make a statement. she was just like, “here are the fucking emails. have fun.”

I love Tilda Swinton. This may not be the forum for that statement, but I do so lover her.
