Setting up a trap. That’s mine. The trap never goes according to plan, of course, but its all works out OK just in a different way than expected.

While all great animated shows the other thing that ties them together is their homogeneity. They demonstrate how modern cartoon character design is stuck in a massive rut and they all address wider, progressive, issues while being truly risk-averse in a wholly timid way.
It’s quite filthy if the performers or sex acts involve coercion, human-trafficking, bullying and lack of consent. That kind of cotent has found its way there, none of which is a crucial aspect of human behavior and is very corrupted.
I would say Moonraker is the best book of the lot. The way things end with Gala is brilliant and for most of the novel you’re not even sure there is a dastardly scheme going on at all and Bond might be wasting his time. Then it comes together in a satisfying way - unlike the film.
Mars Attacks is boring (an unforgiveable crime for any alien invasion movie), disjointed as hell and not nearly as horrific as it shouldve been given the source material. I hate it, and most of Burton’s output, but lots of people like it and I wish them the very best.
Why are they embracing females? I don’t understand.
There’s a line where Tess tells Trask that she admires how he smashed the unions and it just sours me on her completely. Can’t enjoy the film for that.
It means that gender doesn’t exist and what defines us is just our sex. It means no one is born in the wrong body and it means there is no such thing as non-binary because we are all different and unique and wonderful and don’t adhere to any invented stereotypes of what male and female is.
Stop labelling feminists as ‘terfs’! We get it, you like to hate on women who don’t trust men but guess what: lots of women have good reason not to trust men. You refuse to consider the other side of the argument and come across poorly because of it. Yes, putting labels on women hurts them, we know that. Have you ever…
I say no. It doesn’t have the forward momentum or strong characterisation of The Boys (I watched the 2 close together so can’t help comparing) and it’s one of those things I’ll watch more of when I’ve exhausted all else (which will never happen).
A lot of people here angry at feminists (or TERFs as they call them) for protecting the rights of women. Have the goddam imagination to look forward to the future and see that if anyone can declare themselves a woman then the term ‘woman’ becomes meaningless and thousands of years of hard-won rights become obsolete…
No. If an artist wants paying for thier work, pay them. And expect to pay them unless they explicitly say you don’t have to. It’s no one’s business if they are happy doing it professionally or not except thiers. The joy that you get from art comes at a cost to the artist.
There’s a lot of people writing here about how edgy they think Garth Ennis is but there’s so much more to him than that. The Boys (comic) is stupid, juvenile and ugly but it’s also witty and scabrous.
Come on, just a quick piece on the final episode. It’s amazing!! Need to discuss
It looks like parts 1 and 2, and I loved those games, so I have no worries. Cannot wait to play Shenmue 3 and see what happens next.
Any chance of last 2 episode recaps? Please, Father?
I don’t understand the comments that are down on Godzilla 2014. I think it’s great. Edwards skill in in creating god-like monsters whose presence is felt even when there’s only humans on screen. And when the monsters appear they are massive and majestic and beautiful. Watch it again and revel in it.
I think I start every episode of Fleabag wondering where it will go, what I’ll feel and then it winds you slowly in and by the end you’re floored. I’m astounded by the scene where she says she has too much love in her, the skirting around the idea of the fourth wall (the audience? God? Her inner monologue?) in the…
It is too short but I’m just grateful it exists at all. ‘Perfectly rendered’ is exactly what it is!
Love these recaps of Fleabag because, honestly, this is some of the best writing on TV at the moment. I’m watching in time with your reviews and I’m not sure the 4th-wall breaking will be a big part of it but it is a clever way to acknowledge how the characters might be in-sync, how they both might know they are…
