While all great animated shows the other thing that ties them together is their homogeneity. They demonstrate how modern cartoon character design is stuck in a massive rut and they all address wider, progressive, issues while being truly risk-averse in a wholly timid way.

It’s quite filthy if the performers or sex acts involve coercion, human-trafficking, bullying and lack of consent. That kind of cotent has found its way there, none of which is a crucial aspect of human behavior and is very corrupted.

I would say Moonraker is the best book of the lot. The way things end with Gala is brilliant and for most of the novel you’re not even sure there is a dastardly scheme going on at all and Bond might be wasting his time. Then it comes together in a satisfying way - unlike the film.

Mars Attacks is boring (an unforgiveable crime for any alien invasion movie), disjointed as hell and not nearly as horrific as it shouldve been given the source material. I hate it, and most of Burton’s output, but lots of people like it and I wish them the very best.

There’s a line where Tess tells Trask that she admires how he smashed the unions and it just sours me on her completely. Can’t enjoy the film for that.

I say no. It doesn’t have the forward momentum or strong characterisation of The Boys (I watched the 2 close together so can’t help comparing) and it’s one of those things I’ll watch more of when I’ve exhausted all else (which will never happen).

I don’t understand the comments that are down on Godzilla 2014. I think it’s great. Edwards skill in in creating god-like monsters whose presence is felt even when there’s only humans on screen.
