Yeah, but pregnancy itself can kill you, and pregnant ladies still drive cars, so I think it’s a wash in that respect.

That makes sense. And actually makes it more depressing. Pregnant woman doing the most to avoid danger and the danger is their significant other...or ex.
:(
She’s pretty much the Jezebel de facto commenter at this point.
Do we even need to write out the Margaret Atwood quote anymore, or can we just “M.A. .....”
As a fun* way to pass the time this Friday afternoon, you can try to rearrange the words of this headline into something that makes a little more sense. I came up with:
I felt so old when I read your comment and realized we are in a different decade than when Single Ladies came out. Ugh.
I’m betting she wanted a proposal and he wasn’t going to give her one. One can only hope that all this will beget this decade’s equivalent of “Single Ladies”.
When I was a teenager I think, my dad very seriously told me that if something like that ever happened to me, he would find a way to shoot the guy outside the courthouse or something. He just said he would have nothing left to lose so why not. I was sort of rattled by it at the time, but I get it now that I have kids.
“Because he is all parents”
This was the sentencing so the conviction had already been registered in the record and all that was to decide was the punishment. I’m not a lawyer but I don’t think you can get a mistrial if the trial is actually over. Any lawyers, you mind chiming in on this?
I’m not in favor of state sanctioned execution but oddly enough I’m cool with vigilante justice. Meaning if the dad had hit his target and managed to end this dude’s life, and I was on the jury, I’d let him walk in a heartbeat.
I know! Dad is getting some serious air!
I feel like such an asshole for scream laughing at the picture comment.
I was observing testimony for work once and was behind a couple I assumed to be the victim’s parents. Could hear every reaction they had, sobs, sighs, etc. It was so sad. The mother got up and left at one point, I think during the medical examiner’s testimony.
Yeah I think thats a pretty common stance though. Most people I know are probably anti death penalty but all for having child predators and sex offenders killed. I am anyways.
I agree with you here. Once there are dead bodies in garbage bags, I start hoping someone will jump out and shoot the guy in the head so we don’t waste time and resources on that piece of shit. He has given up any humanity in my mind and deserves to be put down with no fanfare and no debate, like a rabid dog.
I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more often tbh. I hear about the awful crimes some people commit and wonder how the victims’ families can keep their composure in the courtroom. So awful.
I’m usually pretty anti-death penalty... but apparently there is a line in my head where it becomes the right - the only - option and that line is women in garbage bags.
Was he arrested? If so I hope he won’t serve any time because he is all parents.
