“Regulations are written in blood.” Or in this case, tons of tiny little giblets.
It was obviously heavily implied that it was safe,... Do you honestly think that they would get many takers if they advertised “many experienced submariners have told me that this sub is definitely a death trap”?
Ironically, the answer to your last sentence is in your first sentence!
I think the difference is in what the directors see in it and how they deploy it. Jackson’s gore was almost entirely intended to be funny—a “gag” in a different sense, that’s all. That’s true of Dead Alive, Bad Taste, and Meet the Feebles. Raimi was pushing envelopes to bring in teenage allowance money (he outright…
I’ve been developing a love for horror, and I respect that Terrifier exists partly as a special effects showcase. But man did I not enjoy this film... It was just so mean spirited I couldn’t handle it.
“No, I just thought maybe you had put a child’s wig on backwards.”
This line made me burst out laughing. Looking forward to watching these two play off each other again.
I highly recommend The Devil’s Candy, about the making of Bonfire. An endlessly fascinating look at a film production ballooning out of everyone’s control thanks to a multitude of unchecked egos (the film opens with what’s still the most expensive single shot in film history, in which the Concorde had to land at a…
Deadpool 2 makes no claim to be for kids while Bluey does.
That must have been a difficult time for you, and I'm sorry you had to go through it
Everybody’s got their own personal thresholds for when gore crosses over from campy horror into “fucked up shit” the same way everybody has a different sense of humor, you can’t begrudge them for thinking Terrifier crosses that threshold.
A response to the prevalence of A24 style arthouse horror (where everything is a metaphor for mental trauma) was inevitable but Terrifier just never clicks with me as a gore-hound. I mean, most slashers and torture porn flicks don’t have Oscar worthy writing but Terrifier seems to forego plot completely. I find it…
Do you think it hurt?
Yes, SNL incrementally assisted in the election of Trump. It was hardly the tipping point, but it did contribute to the image of Trump as some sort of person that was acceptable as a leader. Something that we now know to be untrue.
He and Tina Fey did the same kind of intervention with Lindsay Lohan several years back. So... inconsistent results, but I still give them credit for trying.
That is my point. If you’re having problems reading just try sounding out the words.
The film is genius in playing to the public’s inherent affection towards Matthew Broderick, who is very much introduced as the relatable audience surrogate reacting to the absurdly heightened political ambitions of a high school student. Over time more is revealed about his character - his cold relationship with his…
It sounds just like something the fictional Martha would say, which doesn’t help me believe Gadd misrepresented her.
“The actor who played Martha “sort of looks like me after I put on four stone during lockdown but I’m not actually unattractive,” the woman added.”
Considering how well The Bear and this are doing, I don’t think they have any reason to question the titles they chose.
