Dating myself a bit, but here's one of my favorite bands from back in college playing one of their more "popular" songs: http://thepeasants2.bandcam…

I've been around for a while, and been through my bouts of Kiss fandom, but I have never . . . I mean never . . . heard Music from the Elder described that way. Not to say you're wrong . . .

There are actually quite a few good songs on the album, that show where Liz was going before she had the Matrix pushed on her. Her ideas for "selling out" were a bit different than the "selling out" she actually ended up doing (which, it was still her choice in the end, but she's talked a lot about stupid record co.

I'd just say he should totally disappear from the public eye, as he and his ignorant brood should have done years ago. Please, America, just stop paying attention to this dumb fuck.

One of my happiest, mid-70s Christmas mornings was waking up to that EK on a motorbike that you could somehow wind up on the red platform thing and then shoot off . . . damn, I loved that toy!

Polly Platt. László Kovács.

Yeah, Heathers is in its own, exceptional world. What Heather really kills for me is Mean Girls, which seems to want to but Heathers re-visted at the beginning, but doesn't have the fortitude to stick the landing.

Just re-watched Clueless two days ago, first time in ages. For a 20-year-old high school movie, it holds up remarkably well. The whole cast is great and I love the way it sets up Cher as a typical rich bitch, and then starts undermining that depiction almost right away. And Silverstone is just so very good in it.

Thanks, that's really clear!

What I don't get is how does Swift get ahold of the images to use them for whatever she wants? Presumably, she doesn't get discs of all the photos taken by all the professional photographers who sign contracts to shoot at her shows, does she?

Or that it was a Rob Thomas show . . .

Those Sweet/Hoffs cover albums are great - nothing life changing, but they choose cool songs, and man do the ever sing well together.

It makes me feel old now, but as somebody who had just finished college and had a pretty groovy thing going re: work, studies, and relationship, I thought 1995 was pretty fantastic. A lot of the blechy changes that would come (which this article points out) were still too nascent to be seen, and I really thought we

It definitely had some set pieces worth watching, but, well . . . that is all, actually.

Me too, I mean the 90s bit, it was awesome.

Big Hartley fan, and I'd second, third, and fourth any of the recs above. I've got a massive soft spot for Flirt, which some people don't like. Tells the "same" story three different times - in the US, Germany, Japan - but the variations between the three create some fascinating gaps that only find partial resolution

Nah, she was fabulous back then. She was only the opening act, but sang tons of songs from Guyville and Whipsmart, great band, she'd gotten over the early career stagefright. Etc. Excellent show.

In '98, went to see Liz Phair, left during Alanis Morrissette's second song. I'd probably stick around for Alanis today . . .
