I believe that even 5 years ago the Hellcat would have been unthinkable. The advances in automotive engineering over the last 25 years are like sending humans to the moon 45 years ago. We have 300+ hp cars that can get 30+ mpg. We have cars that can reliably can go 200,000 miles or more.

I suggest a revival of Studebaker. It was a full line manufacturer, they made good looking trucks, sporty (for the time) cars and sensible family cars. They even had some performance upgrades offered by supercharging the Avanti.
A good looking car. In some ways, this is what the world needs now. A simple, attractive car with good visibility (and a bit more than 65 hp).
Funny, most of the comments are uber negative but we're at nearly 80% NP. I am a VW owner (01 Jetta TDi and it isn't cheap to maintain). This would be an interesting car to drive and I'd be afraid of the expense but willing to take the risk.

Gran Prix, American Graffiti, The Love Bug, Herbie Rides Again, the original Gone in 60 Seconds, Bullitt, Le Mans, The Fast and the Furious. I'm sure there are other movies that I've forgotten. All have been mentioned already. Herbie Rides Again is on my all time list of favorite.

Yes, they were trying to reverse direction. The road ahead was blocked by mud. This happened pretty much in the middle of nowhere, Nevada. 20+ miles northwest of Las Vegas.
We had mud and rocks all over 160 in Pahrump on Sunday and Monday from run-off. It is scary how quickly water moves and how powerful it is.
They're in the ditch trying to change direction. US95 was closed just north of Las Vegas and they were wanting to go around the mountain. Other cars had been successful by using the ditch and reversing direction but the wave of water caught them.

My Jetta TDi has had a new transmission at 134,000 miles, injector pump replaced and 2 glow plug wiring harnesses (and needs a third). It currently has 220,000 miles and I bought it in 2009 with 116,000 miles. It is a good car but expensive to repair.
